On May 17, 2022, the European Commission (Commission) announced it had conducted so-called “dawn raids” (i.e., unannounced inspections) at multiple undisclosed companies in the fashion industry in several European Union Member States. The Commission has also sent out formal requests for information resulting from Commission concerns that companies may have violated the cartel prohibition provision of Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and/or Article 53 of the European Economic Area Agreement.

Laura advises clients on mitigating tariffs on Chinese-made products and steel and aluminum and helps clients navigate the maze of regulations, customs, and other government agency scrutiny, as well as the broad array of commercial and enforcement laws and policies administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including trade compliance and audit programs, and duty savings initiatives such as free trade agreements and the use of “first sale.” Laura’s practice also includes advising on the enforcement of antidumping and countervailing duties.

Nathan J. Muyskens is Co-Chair of the White Collar Defense & Special Investigations Practice and defends corporate and individual clients in criminal grand jury investigations and prosecutions, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries and enforcement matters, and related parallel civil proceedings.
